One of the biggest draws for schools is its growing reputation as a sports tour destination, particularly for football. Travelling teams can take part in competitive fixtures against local sides, giving students the chance to test themselves in a new environment while building confidence and teamwork. Even more exciting is the opportunity to train with professional coaches or at elite facilities, offering a glimpse into the standards and dedication required at the highest levels of the game. These experiences can be hugely motivating for students and create lasting memories.

For drama and arts students, there is nowhere quite like New York. The theatre scene is world-renowned, offering the chance to see high-quality productions on Broadway and visit some iconic museums that showcase different types of art.

When is the best time of year to visit?

New York is great all year! If you travel in April and the start of spring Central Park is beautiful with the cherry blossoms. Travelling during October half term, you usually mild temperatures with some days of amazing sunshine and blue skies. And of course, travelling towards the end of the year is magical with all the Christmas lights and the famous Rockefeller Christmas tree.

Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island – amazing views of Manhattan skyline from Ellis Island, Top of the Rock – the perfect place to see the Empire State Building & Central Park – the perfect slower day in New York combining visits to some of the most famous film locations, like Home Alone!

And your favourite hidden-gem excursion?

Chelsea Market is a fantastic spot for students to wander around and enjoy lunch from a variety of food vendors.

Where’s best to stay?

Midtown Manhattan is a great place to stay as it’s very central and walkable to the key attractions but also has great subway links to get around easily.

Where is your favourite place to eat?

Hard Rock Café is always a winner for groups, the food is great and the atmosphere is fantastic.

What are your top tops for getting around the city?

The subway is the easiest way to get around the city with a simple “Tap in/out” system using a debit or credit card. The subways run very regularly and are easy to follow. But the beauty of New York is you can also walk everywhere stopping at key points along the way to see those hidden gems you wouldn’t see on the subway.
