Milan - A city everyone knows and an incredible destination for a school trip
Italy means a lot to our team. We are a company that has an office there, we have more customers travel there than any other country and it is also somewhere that we choose for our own personal trips
There's also so much to see. Where do you think of when you think of Italy? Rome and its amazing history? Venice and its canals? Tuscany? Sicily? Well for your next school trip, think of Milan.

Milano
Have you been to Milan? When I have travelled to the north of Italy I've always tended to go to Verona, Lake Garda, Bergamo, the mountains or the other amazing towns and villages across the north of the country. Milan has three airpoirts and so the city was just my gateway.
However on my last visit there I really managed to see why it's such an incredible destination for any group to go to. For a start, it’s the financial powerhouse of Italy so there's a lot to do, with great hotels and restaurants and there's been a lot of investment in the infrastructure so the metro can wizz you around quickly and at a low cost.
My visit
I visted Milan at the start of April 2026 - I was there to visit different hotels and hostels, to understand where they were and what services they offered. However, the Meininger, A&O and Ostello Bello options are in different areas, so it meant pinging around the city using the metro to get to appointments on time. I shouldn't have been worried, a day tickets is €8.90 and there are multiple lines criss-crossing the city, the ticket also includes trams and buses and I had no problem heading from one stop to the next.
All the accommodation options for Milan are close to a metro stop so it makes sense for groups to use this option. It also means I was able to visist the sights and undertsand the logistics of the city. From one hotel to the Duomo, from another to the canals of Navigli, onto another stop and to see the incredible entrance of the Central Train Station and the foodhall next door.
It's Italy's biggest city so everything just works!
