One of the key priorities for many schools when considering resorts for their next ski trip is the price, and for good reason; the cost of travel across the board has risen significantly in recent years. Whilst the initial price is of course important, we think that the key to a successful trip is in value for money, that’s why we ensure that any new resorts offer convenient, snow-surety, and quality!
We thought we’d pull together a few of our favourite budget-friendly ski resorts, complete with information on the ski areas, hotels, evening activities, and logistics while in resort:
Monte Bondone, Italy – from £945pp
A well kept secret, Monte Bondone is the perfect ski resort for schools with predominantly beginner and intermediate skiers. While the stats might not attract many kilometre-hungry skiers looking to ski ‘til they drop each day, the 22km of pisted runs punch way above their weight!
The real advantages of Bondone lie in both the convenient access to the slopes and town, and exceptional provision for beginner skiers, something that is often overlooked but which can make all the difference to the success of school trip.
The hotels in Monte Bondone sit only a 100m walk from the slopes, making for an easy start & end to each day on the slopes. Better yet, there’s no need to queue! From the centre of town beginners can clip in and begin their adventure straight down the slopes without the need to join a mile-long lift line!
Santa Caterina, Italy – From £975pp
Providing excellent value for money skiing without compromising on quality, Santa Caterina has been a firm favourite for school ski trips for many years thanks to a combination of convenient hotels and a ski area that’s ideal for developing skiers.
While many students will be relatively new to the sport, any more advanced skiers will still have plenty of slopes to explore, with a lovely sunny bowl of high altitude red runs to glide along, groups can take full advantage of the 4 Valli lift pass and head to neighbouring Bormio, home to countless World Cup events and providing another 60km of varied runs to explore.
As a resort, Santa Caterina encourages groups to travel in the Easter holidays through generously discounted lift passes, and with plenty of North-facing, high altitude slopes on offer, it’s an excellent option for reliable late season snow.
Valloire, France – From £1,175pp
France doesn’t usually top the list when searching for budget friendly ski resorts, but thanks to a proactive approach to encouraging more young people to try out this great sport, Valloire provides an accessible introduction to the mountains without breaking the bank.
Thanks to excellent beginner slopes with designated slopes for students to master the basics, and dozens of high quality, well groomed blue, red, and black runs, schools with a real variety of abilities on board can travel in the confidence that every student will enjoy their time on the snow.
We work with a collection of hand picked hotels around Valloire which are all within just a few minutes’ stroll of the slopes, and thanks to each having numerous communal spaces including games rooms, theatres and indoor swimming pools, groups can save some extra Euros on evening activities!
